Fontana Bad Nieuweschans contains a special department of dermatology of the Martini Hospital Groningen. The Martini Hospital Dermatology Day-care centre is specialised in treating psoriasis.
The treatment of psoriasis is based on the use of the mineral rich, salt well water of Fontana Bad Nieuweschans. Bathing in the source water has a peeling impact on the skin and increases the sensitivity of the skin. Because of this, the light cure (UV-B or bathPUVA) and/or ointment therapy after bathing increase the impact even more.
